The Designing Libraries for the Twenty-First Century IX Conference, which was to have been held at Temple University in Philadelphia on October 18-20, 2020, is postponed out of concern for participants’ and presenters’ health and safety. A new date has not yet been set.

A major aspect of the Designing Libraries conferences is the experience of visiting new and/or renovated libraries, and the planning group is delighted that the next conference will be held at the stunning and state-of-the-art Charles Library at Temple University https://www.temple.edu/about/libraries/charles . In addition to experiencing library spaces, the participants at the conference, which include architects, designers, planners, academic administrators, faculty, librarians, and information technologists, find the informal interactions at the conference venue very valuable. For those reasons, we will not be offering a virtual conference as a substitute but will defer the conference to a later date when everyone can feel secure in making travel plans and attending conferences.
