NIST SP800-171 Revision 3 Final Draft for Public Comment Available

The final draft for public comment of the new revision 3 of NIST Special Publication 800-171, Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems and Organizations, is now available. Public comment is open through January 12, 2024. This is important for the management of a range of data, including research data, in higher education settings. See

this includes pointers to the document and an analysis of changes between the first draft for public comment and the current version. A large number of comments were submitted on the earlier draft.
